The Sky Bridge at Boyne Mountain is known to be the World's Longest Timber Towered Suspension Bridge. Located only 40 minutes away from The Torch Lake Bed & Breakfast, it makes the perfect must-do day trip activity when you are in the area. The towers of the bridge are constructed solely with wood timbers sourced from Matelski Lumber located in Boyne Falls. Paired with a steel-framed walking surface construction and a galvanized steel main cable, the bridge is sturdy and durable. Designed and installed by the amazing team at Experiential Resources (ERi), the bridge features a pultruded grating deck.
This architectural masterpiece extends from the McLouth peak, goes over Rams Head, and connects to the summit of Disciples Ridge. Luckily for tourists in the area, the world’s longest timber towered suspension bridge is now open! You can check that off your list of adventures and while you are at it, you can enjoy some great:
Family-friendly activities
Beautiful, panoramic valley views
Thrilling chairlift rides
Walks in the wilderness
Stunning light displays to capture on camera
You can also enjoy RFID-compatible direct-to-bridge access on the bridge with your Go Card.
The New Sky Bridge boasts an impressive 1023 feet suspended walking surface with the entire length from end-of-tower to end-of-tower being approximately 1,200 feet. The timber towers are roughly 52 feet high and the height from the lowest point of the terrain underneath is almost 120 feet. As the bridge is constructed between the peaks of McLouth to Disciples Ridge, guests prefer to ride on the Hemlock Scenic Chairlift to make their way to the mountain’s top.
Your Sky Bridge Michigan tickets allow single Hemlock Chairlift ride to and from the mount and include up to a 3-hour access to cross the bridge as many times as you like. At the end of the Hemlock Chairlift ride, at the Eagle’s Nest, you can utilize the restrooms as well as some tasty bites in their indoor dining facilities.
Guests can also check with the Mountain Messenger to find out about the operational horse of the Disciples Overlook food truck. Once you walk over to the outdoor firepit area on the far side of the bridge, you can enjoy some really yummy snacks off of the food truck.
